Summer is rapidly approaching-and with it the end of school. I know all the children are giddy with excitement, but parents might be a little apprehensive, especially if your Pittsburgh relocation was very recent.

Pittsburgh Area Family Fun

Never fear, though the summer may seem like an eternity when it comes to entertaining school age children, the Pittsburgh area has you covered. One of the best parts of our city is the huge focus on the family-and all the accommodations the city makes to cater to and entertain families of all stages and walks of life.

Pittsburgh Parks

The Pittsburgh Parks and Recreation department is extensive-so check out the summer sports, as well as the visual and performing arts camps offered-you are sure to find the perfect activity for your family to enjoy.

Summer Music Series

The Pittsburgh Philharmonic has numerous shows planned for this summer, themed “Mysteries, Movies and Masterpieces”, including performances of Harry Potter movie themes.

For the music lovers in your family, there is also a summer concert series for the Pittsburgh Youth Philharmonic Orchestra.

Auditions for all the ensembles will be coming up on May 15th and 16th from 10am to 4pm. The a select group of student  Orchestra members aged 15 and older, will also be traveling to Prague, Bratislava and Budapest  for an international performance tour.
