Local real estate information service RealSTATS recently released some data on the Pittsburgh real estate market that I’d like to share with you.

One of the major conclusions from the data is that – based on the number of homes sold and the average sales price of Pittsburgh area homes – the Pittsburgh area real estate market has shown marked improvement from two years ago.

Pittsburgh Homes for Sale

Here are some of the highlights from the recent report released by RealSTATS:

  • The median home price in the Pittsburgh area was $130,000 in May, which is an increase of 8.3 percent when compared to May 2009.
  • There were 2,115 completed home sales in May 2011, which is an increase of nearly 11 percent when compared to May 2009.
  • Pittsburgh home buyers paid more than $342 million on these home sales, which is an increase of about 21 percent when compared to May 2009.
  • In Allegheny County, home sales prices rose by 20.9 percent – or from $173.9 million to $210.3 million
  • In Westmoreland County, home sales prices rose by 30.6 percent – or from $33.9 million to $44.3 million.
  • In Beaver County, home sales prices rose by 56.7 percent – or from $10.4 million to $16.3 million
  • In Butler County, home sales prices rose by 19.7 percent – or from $34.5 million to $41.3 million

The data that RealSTATS recently released on the Pittsburgh real estate market suggest that home sales prices are starting to rise with the demand for Pittsburgh homes for sale.
